The Boston Celtics saw their 12-game winning streak beaten by the Los Angeles Lakers. And they also have a record-fixing 19 match-winning streak stopped last Christmas by the same team.

After they lost to the Lakers the first time, they suddenly got into the tailspin and suffered six defeats with some of them coming from struggling teams. This time, the Celtics won against the New York Knicks their first basketball game after losing to the Lakers for the second time. Will Boston repeat its misfortune show and start losing once again?
Boston took on the well-rested San Antonio Spurs at their homecourt, Banknorth Garden but were beaten by the oldest team in the NBA with a basketball result of 105-99. The Spurs scored 11 points in the last 40 seconds to win the game.
Roger Mason scored three pont field goals with 20.4 seconds remaining to give San Antonio the upperhand. Manu Ginobili then hit four free throws before Mason added a pair as Spurs increased their distance from Boston. It was the Spurs’ ninth win in 11 games.
Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Rarely used Matt Bonner to score his second most in scoring goals with 23 and going 3 of 6 from the three-point area. Ginobili had 19 points as he came off the bench.
Kevin Garnett has 26 points and 12 rebounds while Paul Pierce has 19 points and eight rebounds. Ray Allen added 18 points while Rajon Rondo made a tally of 16 assists. With this defeat, the Celtics have allowed their opponents to score 100 points or more in their three straight matches and in six of their last eight. That means that their opponents have increased their average score to 99.1 for the last eight games and have increased their field goal shots to 44.7 as well. Boston coach Doc Rivers must find out to bring back their tenacity in defense. The Celtics will then embark on a six-game run between All Star weekends before returning to Boston.

Spurs coach Greg Popovich rested a key starter when his side played the Denver Nuggets. Ginobili sat outside the game with a bruised hip. Duncan, Michael Finley and Tony Parker were also rested as the team entered their eight-game, three-week journey. So far they have posted a 2-1 record.
Duncan has the ball and makes a basket and is fooled. He made extra free throws and pushed the Spurs to a 90-87 lead. Ray Allen sank a field goal to cut the lead down to one. Garnett hit consecutive jumper during the Celtics ball possession to lead 93-90 at 1; 36 on the clock. Bonner then hit a jumper from the free throw line while Garnett missed his attempt. Mason then made three pointers which returned the upperhand to the Spurs at 95-93. Boston turned the ball during a play in with Ginobili stealing the ball and provoking a clear road foul which resulted in two free throws and the ball possession back to the Spurs. They extended the lead to 101-93 but Eddie House and Garnett refused to step down and made three consecutive point-jumpers to reduce the lead to two. It was time to shoot free throws for the Spurs as the team sank four charities for the final score.
