The Fundamentals of Baseball

Baseball is a team sport in which two teams compete against each other over nine innings in which each team attempts to score runs. It is always the home team that bats second (in the “bottom” of the inning), and it is always the visiting team that bats first (in the “top” of the inning)

At the beginning of each innings, the batting team sends one player, known as the hitter or batter, in turn, to the plate (known as a “at bat”) until three hitters are “out,” while the pitching team has nine players on the field trying to prevent them from scoring by striking out. The tenth inning is played if the scores are tied at the end of nine innings, and if necessary, the eleventh, and so on until the game is decided (both halves of the extra inning have to be completed before the game is resolved, if both teams score a run in the tenth, then an eleventh is played, etc). Baseball is a sport in which there are no ties.

Never neglect this very important part of playing excellent baseball. Throwers must communicate with all of their fielders, especially their catchers. As a pitcher, you will get tremendous benefits.

I can write forever about the need for good communication for pitchers with all of his teammates. This is not something that is taught very often but can affect the outcome of a baseball game.

What could be more frustrating than losing the game because a catcher was crossed out and missed the court because he thought a fast ball was being thrown and was surprised by a curve ball? Or lose the match because the infielder throws the ball while throwing it at the base where he has no chance of getting a runner anyway? These are just two examples of breakdowns in communication.

Talk on the baseball field and then talk even more!

Throwers can be of great help to both the catcher and the infielder. On a pop up or flying ball, he should shout and point. On the ground away from the catcher, shouting and pointing.

It looks like it’s the last major playoff run for Boston’s “Big Three” when the Celtics open the postseason against hosts the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. Boston Best sports city

Each year there is debate about which US city is the most dominant in all the major sports leagues. While Boston has been in constant discussion this year they have truly cemented themselves as the best unsexable sports city in the US.

Let’s start with the Red Sox.

The Red Sox have had an exciting journey towards their dominating 2018 season. They last won the World Series in 2013 and since then have been decent but inconsistent. This year is very different from the acquisition of the slugger JD Martinez and the emergence of Mookie Betts as one of the league’s best players overall. The Red Sox was not only great this year but absolutely incredible. With the thrill coming from the back of the win and hot play with the Yankees, there’s no denying that there’s something special about this Red Sox team. When they beat the Dodgers in the World Series last October it became clear to not only Boston fans but the rest of the country that this is actually the best team in baseball. With hardly anyone leaving during the offseason the Red Sox are poised to continue their dominance this season.
